Ford Focus Mk4 ST Line X - Screen wash level indicator

Featured Replies

Simple question before I assume my one is knackered. I have a 2021 St Line X, does it notify you if the screen wash gets low? Mine doesn't and just runs dry. So either the level is stuck and doesn't flag it, or it doesn't have one. Any ideas?

I've got a 2019 ST Line X without headlight washers, and mine tells me if it's low!

Interesting. Usually Ford only include it with the bigger reservoir for headlight washers. Can’t rely on that anymore then.

TVM strikes again! Costed out

Some models have it and others dont. The Mk4.5 doesn't come with headlight washers anymore (the mk4 only came with them due to an EU law which stated all cars with Xeon lights needed washers to stop glare. the Mk4.5 has full LED lights now) and mine tells me when its low. It just depends on the model/spec.

Why LED headlamps do not come with washers as standard? (EU specific question) : r/cars (reddit.com)

The MK4 has full LEDs too.

The law wasn't about Xenons, but about lights (of any technology) over a certain brightness.

I don't know if they reduced the brightness on dipped beam to no longer need it. It was costed out on later models of MK4.

The Reddit post explains why they were dropped - due to a legal loophole how they measure the lumens.

My '21 plate Mk4 had full adaptive LEDs but no headlight washers.  I didn't notice until Alex mentioned it on here! 😮

19 plate ST-X owner here, car has adaptive Led, headlight washers, does come with a level warning. I've no idea how big the washer bottle is, decided to top it up the other day (warning had not come on) and put 4.5litres in it 😱
