Modern audio/bluetooth setup for 2010 Focus

Featured Replies

Hi,

currently have sony 6000cd with mp3 and dab. Looking to upgrade. The minimum requirement is to have bluetooth connectivity for hands free calls and music streaming from the phone. I am looking at offers in amazon - looks like for 150 quid you can get Apple/Android devices that would work as sat nav etc, just wonder if those are reliable? If not, is there something like this for the unit I have: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/374592291164?var=0&mkevt=1&mkcid=1&mkrid=710-53481-19255-0&campid=5338749392&toolid=20006&customid=GB_131090_v1|374592291164|0.150995557080~1869599365649-g_Cj0KCQjwnMWkBhDLARIsAHBOftqPdHsQIIBq0f-d6lp6J1JIh-OsTtv5Tr4kQVAFJimyRpBXGKK32k0aAnXBEALw_wcB&gclid=Cj0KCQjwnMWkBhDLARIsAHBOftqPdHsQIIBq0f-d6lp6J1JIh-OsTtv5Tr4kQVAFJimyRpBXGKK32k0aAnXBEALw_wcB

Thank you!

You can buy direct fit Android units for these, but be warned, make sure they're on the latest possible Android OS and make sure it has a lot of RAM, 4GB minimum.

You will loose DAB

Get one with an external microphone, the built in one isn't ever any good.

From memory when I was researching these, you can buy an additional DAB+ module...

Thank you. I don't think I ever used DAB. Its rather anoying. And what is quality of those units, not many reviews and some quite negative. Any particular brand?

Oh, I have similar one - thinking about getting longer lead as aux is terribly designed in Focus 😉 But it does not solves the issue with bluetooth calls.

Crikey, I couldn't survive without DAB+ LOL There are numerous radio stations now that have abandoned FM, and even DAB! But then I'm old, and the thought of listening to bangin' tunes all day would full me with dread!

You do have the option of the off switch . Like you, modern pop leaves me cold, partly because the music isn't very tuneful, seems lacking in creativity and very repetitive and partly because as someone with degraded hearing it's impossible to make out any of the vocals. I very rarely feel the need to use the in-car audio but may very occasionally put on Classic FM if I'm sat waiting.

But then I fully accept I'm a dinosaur .

Me too, but I just love my dose of TalkRadio LOL

You know there are stations playing older records right?  Smooth is great.

Can't think of anything worse than listening to people speak while in the car.

You see, I now can't think of anything worse than listening to music (and I use to manage a big music superstore!) Takes all sorts LOL..

After going through many options on amazon, I decided to buy this one: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B06Y2D1ZX8?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details

Looks like it will allow me to have a decent calls - not tested it though. I would like one with plugable microphone as then I could place microphone or two in better place.

Retail is retail LOL I've worked in 'stationary', 'fashion', 'jewelers', 'music stores', 'discount stores', and also a shopping center manager, then a town center manager - yep, that's pretty much my CV right there 🤣

Further to my post above, I've also now found Greatest Hits radio which plays the best music from the 70s, 80s & 90's!

Though I still mostly listen to Radio X or Kiss fm...very eclectic music taste lol.

I guess the next step up should've been Mayor 🤣

Don't think I haven't thought about it, I could have a bomb proof £400,000 Range Rover, and create a multi £Million slush fund by increasing ULEZ zones all over the place 😂😂
