Washer Fluid Level Sensor

Featured Replies

Afternoon all,

What were the circumstances surrounding which MK3 Foci had washer level sensors?

Mine ran dry last week without a warning on the dash (it's a late 2012 Titanium X with Xenon), so I assume it either doesn't have a sensor, or it's stuck in a position where it thinks it has fluid.

Were the sensors in the facelift (2014+) only?

Cheers,

Nick

Well............

In general it was thought that only those Focus that had headlight washer jets, and hence the larger screen wash tank had the level sensor fitted.

This in the main seems to be true but, some Mk3's (Mk3.5's) that don't have headlight wash still seem to have the level sensor fitted in the screen wash tank. Was this a deliberate thing by Ford, or was it a case of what parts were available at the time of build ????

I got caught out with my 2012 Mk3 running dry, but it was only a Titanium so no headlight washers.  Had a bit of debate about it on here at the time, but can't remember what the outcome was now.

(Previous car was a Mk2.5 with headlight washers and level sensor, so wrongly assumed the Mk3 would have a level sensor).

Didn't know such things existed!! Are they fitted on Fiestas ?

My sensor is common sence here, not hard to pop open the bonnet and top up, after some serious usage.

No.  Fiesta never had a Xenon headlight option so no requirement for headlight washers, which means no requirement for low fluid level sensors either.

So that's interesting - that seems to correlate with what I've been reading, but then I do have Xenons and headlight washers so presumably should have a level sensor?

I may have to whip the undertray / front bumper off at some stage and see if it has got one - I'm assuming it's the standard 'float style' sensor so could be seized.

My 2014 (14 plate) Mk3 Ti Nav Focus has the washer level sensor but no headlight washers.

Mines has it too without the headlight washers/xenons.

My 2015 Titanium has the sensor fitted. Just had to clean the filter and bottle out, which surprisingly wasn't too hard to do.

i just got a used 2015 MK3 Focus, the washer warning is popping up when i start the car, the bottle it full, so i assume as many have eluded to, its the sensor that needs cleaning. Any tips on how to do it?
