2012 Sloppy gear lever issue

Featured Replies

Hi All

I've tried searching Google and these forums but not finding what I need so I hope you can help.

I have a very early 2012 Mk7 Fiesta 1.25 Zetec,

Started the car whilst in gear without foot the clutch - so it jumped forward. My wife who was driving said she there was a ping noise like something moving near the USB port (just behind the gear lever) at the point and still the gear lever is just what I call sloppy, it is really wobbly and doesn't return to the middle as before. Previously it would drop back to the middle if you knocked it out of gear.

I am guessing there may be a gear lever return spring (which would explain the ping-type noise)

I have had the lever gaiter off but cant see where it would be or locate spring remanence.

Has anyone had a similar problem?  Do you know if there is a spring if so where it is located?

Can anyone advise on a fix?

Thanks for your help.

I no this is the focus but maybe of some use

Dan
