Whistle sound/p2663 boost pressure problem.

Featured Replies

My 2007 ford smax 2.0 tdci has got a whistle which I thought was my turbo but I'm suspecting boost/vac leak but all pipes are in good condition and I can not find any splits etc... it gets louder the harder I accelerate and it also causes limp mode and code p2663 comes up.. actuator was stuck closed but is now sorted and all cleaned out. I have a video but I can't get the size of the file down to add.

Videos can't be uploaded directly.  They need to be uploaded to a third party site (YouTube etc) and then linked across.

The turbo has probably been damaged by the stuck actuator.  Though I would definitely want the boost pipes double checked before condemning it.

Here is the video... it quite possibly could've caused damage. Had a mechanic look and he didn't notice any damage but he may of missed something! I'll re check all pipes again and see if I can spot anything. Thankyou

Does anyone know what pipes to check for suspect boost leak? Intake pipe is brand new and no splits HOWEVER the pipe underneath the engine that connects to around the turbo area has some oil but no splits in the pipe... what's the best way to check for a boost leak also?

Thankyou

You could have a pin hole in your intercooler

Check all pipes from air cleaner to turbo and from turbo to intercooler and from intercooler to throttle body for looseness leaks or splits

If there's oil on a boost pipe, it's usually leaking.  Is that the short silicone pipe between the plastic pipe and the turbo?  You can try nipping up the jubilee clips if so.

I have noticed some smoke from the lower pipe from passenger side on the intercooler that connects to a plastic pipe.. when revving and starting the car.. cut the pipe down and tightening up the clip and still smoke.. Will I best replacing the whole lot of pipes including the one that runs from the plastic to turbo?

I wouldn't generally recommend replacing every pipe but it does sound like that particular one needs changing.

Okay thankyou, I will start looking for replacement plastic mid pipe and then silicone from intercooler to mid plastic pipe.. as the smoke comes from front end more than it does turbo end so maybe they're broken front end.. hard to tell🤣 thankyou mate

Thankyou everyone for the comments, suggestions etc. I have found the pipe/pipes the boost leak is from how ever I can not find them online to purchase. They are the big silicone hose from passenger side of intercooler to under engine to a plastic pipe mid section that goes to turbo. What would both those pipes be to buy? Thankyou

Is this the correct pipe setup for your car?

If so, the silicones aren't available separately from the plastic pipe from Ford.

Part number for all 3 is 1490848.

Ebay link for genuine part here - £140 - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/393529244997?

If you search that part number on ebay, you'll see several aftermarket pipe options much more cheaply.  Obviously the quality may not be up to the same standards but it's your choice.

Hey everyone so I have fixed the boost leak and there is no more histle HOWEVER I do not have boost pressure and the diesel coo is no longer there... New MAP sensor is arriving today, could the actuator need adjusting? I'm going to also spray diesel turbo cleaner and finish the can off into the air intake and see if this helps

Do you have any fault codes present now?

The turbo actuator shouldn't ever need adjusting.
