Does anyone know if this is normal?

My Fiesta ST-Line Ecoboost Hybrid, has been making an exhaust popping noise once parked in our garage.

This does not occur while driving, only when the car has done a short distance. Car is 3 months old and has 100 miles on it.

Driving only 1.1 miles per day is not much of a test of your new car. Perhaps give it a good run out before worrying about noises.

It's 3 months old but only 2 weeks in my ownership. I bought the car with 1 mile on the clock.

I can also note that the oil stick smells like petrol...

Petrol smell in oil could be down to frequent stop-start and short journeys over the cars life. From the time it left the factory I bet it’s being started and moved just a few meters quite a few times. If you give it a good run I’d expect that to clear.

Regarding the noise from the exhaust, I can confirm that my EcoBoost Hybrid doesn’t make that noise. I’d suggest giving your dealer a call and sending a link to your video on an email.

Thanks!

I've noticed really weird idling exhaust noises on a 1.0EB MHEV and a 1.6 TDI both under 3 years old.  Obviously very different engines so guessing it must be something to do with the design of the exhaust on newer cars.  I did have that chugging noise and in my case there's also what sounds like a metal shovel being scraped along the pavement at regular intervals.  Thought it was roadworks nearby the first time it happened.  Was only when I crouched behind the car giving it a wipe over that I realised it was coming from the exhaust.

There is also a GPF on this engine, and I would expect some petrol in oil from GPF regeneration.  Haven't seen any evidence to suggest how often the GPF needs to regen on the 1.0 MHEVs so far.

UPDATE

The noise turned out to be an EVAP issue. A tube not connected properly, or not even connected at all.
