Gearbox codes

Featured Replies

Hello,

Would anyone happen to know which gearbox codes are compatible with my car ?

It's a 2011 Ford Focus MK3 phase 1 with a 1.6L petrol engine. It's the flexifuel version, running on E85.

I found this reference online: DV6R7002ABB

But I would like to confirm it before buying a gearbox. Also, are there any other compatible models?

Thanks,

Sebastian

Edit: After looking around the forum it looks like the correct gearbox would be : BV6R-7002-DBF. My car was made on the 28/06/2011 according to a VIN lookup website.

How do you know what is fitted?

There will be a label on the gearbox, somewhere, normally white with a barcode on. The part number will be on that. Do not touch it or try to clean it as you will wipe the numbers off, just read it, you may need to take the air cleaner unit out.

If you are infact DV6R7002ABB then you can only fit this gearbox, that's what you must search for for the replacement. You can fit ABC, ABD, ABE etc but everything else must match

After looking on the original gearbox BV6R-7002-DBF was indeed the correct code. However the replacement seems to be running at a higher RPM on the motorway. Weird.

What is the part number of the replacement?

It has the same part number, BV6R-7002-DBF, according to the seller. The original label is missing on the replcament.

Then you can't be 100% sure.

Sounds like the final drive ratio is different as you mentioned your revs are higher.

Does a small increase in revs matter ? Going from 3600 to 4000 at 140km/h doesn't sound like much but my fuel consumption seems to be a bit higher. Am also worried about extra wear it could cause as the car is getting old.

Not sure if I should ask for a replacement or not.

If you're not bothered it doesn't matter.

But it's obviously the wrong gearbox

The seller has checked my old gearbox that I had to send back. It turns out there was a 1 tooth difference on the final drive ratio! Very weird!
