AC only working on high revs

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have another issue with my Ford fiesta 1,6 TDCI from 2010.

My ac is not working, so far I have tried to refill the gas, and see if there is any errorcode with tester. The car has now fully gas on, but the LP(low pressure) is running too many bars. condenser is not looking bad at all, and the AC is working good when I run high revs, like 3-4k.

Does anyone had this problem before or know how to fix it before I start to change everything?

Yes it does. We thought that I was because it had no gas, it had nearly no gas at all, haven't been filled in sometimes, but it's filled up 100% now.

Ok.  If you're sure the gas level is correct then I suspect the compressor has become corroded or damaged internally while it was empty for so long.  Can't really be tested easily, so best to rule out gas level and fan etc before replacing.

Not exactly your problem but I came across what may be a problem with my AC that someone might be able to enlighten me on. Whilst away on holiday my car had been sat out in the sun for most of the day. When I got in to drive back home the cabin temperature was sky high. Switching on AC had no affect in either Auto or manual. System reset to Auto and AC left selected, after about 10 miles of urban driving  for approximately 20 minutes the Ac kicked in and continued to function normally for the rest of the journey. This is the second time this has happened. Other times it comes on as soon as it is selected. Any ideas?
