Focus Mk4.5 Forscan Mods?

Featured Replies

Hi all. Wondering if anyone has had any success with Forscan on the face lifted Mk4.5 Focus yet? Maybe we can use this as a general thread for successful changes.

I’ve successfully connected to the car but not attempted anything yet. Would like to enable ACC (I have auto transmission and standard CC), along with auto high beams, auto lock etc.

Auto HB is doable, I did mine, not sure of coding on MK4.5 though, you can't do it by drop down "enable" options alone, you have to code camera and steering column modules. Search FORScan forum, someone will have done it by now.

ACC, as mentioned, requires Radar and the switches on the steering wheel coding

Auto locking is configurable as a drop down option in both BCMii and IPC

Search the FORScan forums, they'll be info on there

Cheers for the info. Found plenty of info on the Mk4 but not much on the Mk4.5.

I attempted auto locking earlier in the dropdowns on both BCM and IPC, however when writing and cycling ignition got a bunch of fault codes, 'lost connection with BCM' so reverted back and cleared codes. Will have another go tonight.

With regard to the ACC, I have standard CC with crash avoidance, lane assist, speed sign recognition etc. Would I still need the radar / how can I check whether I have the radar fitted? Just going off a comment (by yourself actually) in this thread:

Yes you need the radar for ACC. They only fit it on cars that have factory fitted ACC these days.

Up until around March 2019 they did fit it on other models without ACC but it seems there was a camera upgrade that made the fitting of the radar unnecessary.

Gotcha. Might look at picking one up.

The limited info on the Mk4.5 is a bit of a nightmare, however managed to add AHB last night with no issues. Headlights were on this morning and the AHB telltale was on the dash so fingers crossed, can't really test until it's properly dark.

If the tell tale is on it should be working, it doesn't go green.

It wont operate until dark and speeds above 45KMH

Auto locking shouldn't be a problem, have you got the latest version of FORscan?

Yep, auto locking is working. Confirmed that this morning when I pulled off my driveway 🙂

Heard that people usually change the max battery charge % from 80 -> 95, so might make that change too.  Most other things people seem to enable are on by default (courtesy wipe, etc).

All I'm waiting for now is the new Sync 4 update to finally give me fullscreen CarPlay. Shame we can't change that, doesn't even seem to be a secret developer menu in Sync 4 like there was in 3.

Actually there is.

Turn on Ignition (but do not start the engine), turn on FM or AM radio (not DAB), then hold volume down and previous track buttons on the steering wheel at the same time until the speaker testing starts. The catch is that you have to do all this within a certain amount of time after turning on Ign for it to work.

The dev menu is a bit different than the Sync 3 one though.

I feel you on the info being limited, I'm in the same boat with a MK4.5 with Sync 4, having some struggles of my own.

Still can't change to full screen even through developer mode.

Trying to change the boot screens to ST or Ford Performance.

In the IPC I don't have the Myview option on the list.

Any ideas?

Do you have the dashboard with 2 analog gauges and the small screen in the middle? That's the "Myview" screen.
If you have the model with an X behind the version (e.g. ST-Line X) with a fully digital dashboard, any Myview settings won't apply to you. I don't have any answers to whether or not this one can be customized (but let's hope so).

Mine is fully digital.

The screen can be seen here:

Thanks

Yeah the Myview stuff doesn't apply to that one.

Been experimenting with the same digital dashboard but to no avail so far (like I'd love to have the Sport mode theme permanently, so much easier on my eyes).

Would love the ST splash screens and the oil temp etc as in the above pic.

The ST splash screen flashed up once on my sync 4 screen but never again. There must be something simple we're missing.

Ensure your car is set to auto-update. Dev mode won't enable full screen CarPlay. It needs updates from Ford to enable this.

My Sync updated itself around two months ago with full screen CarPlay.

Having plenty of unrelated issues with the car at the moment however.

What other issues mate? I know they have been recently pushing out other smaller updates/config changes via the Sync 4 Ford Power-Up updates.

Hi

This can be changed with ForScan - some people have reported the animations going missing after Sync 4 did a big update. Can be changed back to ST/Ford Perfomance within the IPC and APIM modules.

I have a 2024 Mk4.5 Focus ST-Line X which has the standard LED headlights without the driver's assistance pack and without Matrix. Can you please tell me how you enabled it via FORScan? I tried going to their forum but it says it's suspended due to bot attacks. If they won't let you post the codes here can you please DM me? Thanks.

You can't activate Matrix LED lamps without having Matrix LED lamps

You can (probably) activate auto high beam, but it has to be coded in multiple modules

You need the correct steering wheel switches, IPA (Camera) and Radar to activate the rest of the DAP

@DaveT70 Sorry I wasn't clear - I meant I want to activate Auto High Beam on my Mk4.5 Focus which has standard LED. It already has driver fatigue monitoring, autonomous emergency braking and active lane assist. Can you please walk me through how it can be done on FORScan and what codes I need to put into which module? The FORScan forum is down at the moment... Thanks!

No, I can't, unfortunately.

I only had the codes for MK4 Halogen, which won't work. (And I can't seem to find even them at the moment)

You'll need to wait until FORScan is back up and running and ask on there, it will have been done.

You may have autonomous braking and lane assist but you still may not have the correct camera for AHB, someone on FORScan will tell you what you need.

You have to code in

IPC, IPMA, BCM, PSCM and ABS (I believe) for it to work properly, as well as basic enables in Central Config

Make sure you have a good lead (V-Linker or OBDLink-EX)

This is partially incorrect. In the end no one helped me on FORScan forum so I spent all day mucking about with FORScan and finally got AHB working on my Mk4.5 Focus ST-Line X. Most of the serial number changes you see in the forum are for Mk4 which are incompatible with Mk4.5. You don't need to update the serial numbers manually. Here's how I got it working - Hope it'll help those struggling:

1) If you own a Mk4.5 Focus without the drivers assistance pack like me, chances are your IMPA module will still have a part number ending in C-something (e.g. JX0P-00H406-CM). Mine came factory-fitted as standard. You can find this out from a Ford dealer by phoning the parts department and giving them your VIN number. Note some dealers won't disclose part numbers saying it's company policy, others will. Try dealers in the North, they're more helpful than those in the south. Otherwise you can always find the part number on your physical module. This is a prerequisite for enabling Auto High Beam with FORScan. If your IPMA part number doesn't end in C-something, sort out the part first.

2) The setup I had was Parallels (Windows 11 on ARM) on MacBook Pro M3, with an OBD LinkEx FORScan adapter and an Anker USB-A to USB-C adapter, both sourced from Amazon. Then follow the instructions here to install the relevant USB drivers so FORScan can connect to vehicle.

3) Once FORScan connects to your car, save your vehicle profile then head to Configuration and Programming. There you'll see all of your car's modules that FORScan has read. You'll notice for each module, there is an "As-Built Format" row and a standard row. The As-Built format one is where you update the serial numbers. The standard one is where you can make changes the easy way with a drop-down boxes - That's where I made changes and got AHB working. The 'easy' changes you make via dropdown will automatically update the serial numbers in As-Built. Importantly, the As-Built is also where you can save and load your AsBuilt data if you ever need to restore any module to the previous version and can't remember what you changed in that module.

4) The modules that need changing are BdyCM, IPC, SCCM and IPMA. Go into the "As-Built Format" of each of those modules and hit "Save All' first before you make any changes. This will save the .abt file locally for the particular module. If you ever need to restore to previous version, just hit the "Load All" button and select the relevant .abt file to load.

5) For BdyCM, the changes are as below:

NAME

VALUE

Auto high beam

Enabled

Left Front High Beam Usage

Auto high beam

Right Front High Beam Usage

Auto high beam

6) For IPC

NAME

VALUE

Auto High Beam Telltale

Enabled

Auto High Beam Telltale Source

IPMA

Auto High Beam option in Productivity Screen

Enabled

High Beam Telltale Source

SCCM

Menu - Auto High Beam

Auto high beam

7) For SCCM

NAME

VALUE

Auto high beam

Auto high beam

8. For IPMA

NAME

VALUE

High Beam Configuration

Auto High Beam Control

Enabled

Customer Preferences - AHB - Personal 2

Enabled

Customer Preferences - AHB - Personal 3

Enabled

Customer Preferences - AHB - Personal 4

Customer Preferences - AHB - Vehicle

9) Write all the changes for each module and remember to go into each module's "As-Built Format" hit Save All so you have the new .abt file for each module as well as the previous .abt file for each module before change. This is for backup and maintenance purposes if you ever need to rollback/restore. Hit "Disconnect" on FORScan before unplugging cable and laptop to avoid bricking any modules.

10) Test it somewhere in the dark with little to no street lighting. Make sure the headlights knob by your steering wheel is set to Auto. The AHB telltale should pop up on your digital instrument cluster (the white "A" beam symbol) permanently in night time. Drive at speed of >32mph. The green dipped beam symbol will show when AHB is dipped i.e. where the IPMA sees there is sufficient street lighting and/or there are cars in front of you or diagonally ahead. The blue main beam symbol will show when AHB switches to main, i.e. where IPMA sees there is little to no street lighting and there are no cars in front of you or diagonally ahead. Now you have fully functioning AHB. Enjoy!

Hi @cartmann well done getting the AHB working on your Focus Mk4.5 👍

Might I recommend that you repost your wright up in the FOCUS GUIDES forum for others to find ?
