Where does this lead go?

Featured Replies

Hi all

Ive a 2008 1.8 TDCI with 200k miles on the clock

Im looking for advice on three things please

1. I blanked the EGR a few years ago and all good there but today I find this lead just left there. Can someone tell me where it goes to please? (maybe have a look at any other Mk2 and see if you have one?)

2. Also, on a couple of occasions this year, she didnt fire up after parking after long journey (ie engine still hot). I've changed the fuel/air filter (they are very sensitive to dirty fuel filters I learned years ago the hard way!). Anyone any thoughts?

3. She feels lumpy on tick over until she is up to abut 1500 RPM when all is perfectly smooth. This has been there for a long time. I dont think its injectors as I believe the injectors in this model either work or dont. I'm wondering if it could be the alternator clutch pulley on it......anyone else change that for this problem or any other ideas?

Thanks a lot for advice

Intake air temp sensor.  Located on the boost pipe just the other side of the cambelt cover.

Not all 1.8 TDCI's have the sensor, so you may find it was never plugged in and just tucked out of the way before.

Thanks!

is it this pipe? And is the indentation on the pipe where the sensor would be if it had one? See pic

Yes, that's the one.
