2.0 TDCI Non-Starter Following Oil Issue

Featured Replies

Hi All

On the motorway between junctions, my beloved Mk 3 Galaxy 2.0 TDCI (with 130k miles) suffered a catastrophic oil filter housing failure, draining the sump of oil before I could react and safely pull off the road following illumination of the 'Low Oil Level' dash warning. The engine then cut out with an audible 'donk' leaving me to coast to the hard shoulder - the noise did not sound like mechanical breakage.

Obviously, under the bonnet was not a pretty sight when I eventually got the car recovered back home - everything was covered in oil, primarily on the off side of the engine where it had sprayed from the oil filter housing.

I've now cleaned everything, including any visually affected wiring connectors and replaced the oil filter housing and topped up the oil, however the car will not start. No OBD faults are apparent when scanned. The engine turns over freely but will just not fire. I've tried jumping it in gear and even 'Easy Start' with no success. I'm now considering swapping out sensors/switches but with no OBD fault codes I'm looking for expert guidance on where to start.

Any advice would be welcome.

Many thanks in advance.

Pepe

Are you using FORScan to read all the Ford specific DTC's or just a generic code reader ?

If it won't fire on EasyStart I'd recommend checking compression before going any further.
