Faulty powered door mirror

Featured Replies

Hi, I have a 2014 Focus Titanium Navigator and the drivers side powered door mirror doesn't fold in when the car is locked or manually done from inside nore can it be adjusted but if I lock the car from the inside the mirror can be adjusted and folds in half way if i press the manual fold button. I have checked the fuses and they are all OK. The puddle light, indicator and window all work perfectly and the cars locks perfectly to.

Not a fuse, as it partially works. When it folds half way, can you hear a grinding noise as it struggles to fold?

If you can hear a noise when it's trying to fold, remove mirror cap (carefully) and lubricate the hinge mechanism on the mirror head.

Then manually work the mirror head forwards and backwards a couple of times to free it up. It should be OK then, if not new mirror assy needed.

Might as well do both sides

Yes it does but only when I manually fold them from inside with the doors locked

You could try it, but you'd be better off using a spray of '3 in 1 oil', rather than WD40.

Thank you. I will give that a go

Did this work @storeman? My Wife's Fiesta is doing the same. For some reason one window folds when the car is locked, the other doesn't.

I am getting the fault code on forscan, circuit short to battery or open, mirror heater output, it seems that only the drivers side mirror clears and not the passenger side

Probably disconnected or a corroded wire from pressure washing

Hi mate. I'm afraid it didn't work. Sorry for the late reply
