Galaxy Mk3 2.0TDCi Starting Issue

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Recently had to replace the fuel pump and 4 injectors, due to pump failing. Car run fine for a week or so, now is hesitant to start in the mornings, will turn over for a second or two before starting. Once started, it starts fine all day.

Seems to be the fuel is draining back to the tank overnight, due to air ingress. I have proven that the filter housing and fuel pipes to the pump are OK (installed a remote fuel tank, feeding direct to the fuel pump, below pump level), still the same.

I disconnected the return pipe, and gravity fed the fuel pump, over 6 hours 110ml of diesel leaked back via the return pipe - not too sure on the internal plumbing of the pump, is that amount normal?

Car starts fine if remote fuel tank connected, and gravity fed above fuel pump, although fuel level noted to have dropped overnight.

Any help or pointers much appreciated, it just seems to be one thing after another.

Cheers
