Disable stop / start

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, is there a way to completely turn off / disable the stop start system an a mk8 fiesta please, possibly with forscan?
the car is used as a driving school car and is just constantly stop starting all day unless I press the button at the beginning of every lesson.

thanks in advance

I'm sure someone will be able to answer you properly soon, but left to it's own devices, the stop/start will soon cease to function of it's own accord...

My parents have a 67 plate..all I had to do was hold the button on the dash in for 10 seconds if I remember..think it had the A symbol on it

Just spoke to my parents and I may have lied...she said it was only temporary

I think the modern parlance is, you, 'spoke a mis truth...' 🤣

That maybe correct

I need punishing..I have smacked myself........hard..twice!!

And it's on the console near the handbrake on the Mk 8, not the dash. Otherwise spot on!😀

Yes 😀

There is a simple and easy to fit little 'module' that automatically turns Stop/Start off.

Send me a message if you want more info,

But back to the topic. I think in some markets (but not UK) you can (or could) permanently disable it via the vehicle settings menu. Probably not allowed now due to emissions regs.

Various devices have been sold particularly in the US that fool the system either by plugging into the OBD port or "piggy backing" on the switch eg: https://www.autostopeliminator.com/collections/ford

I think @unofix has used one of these?

Edit: yes, he has!

So I’ve bought one of these things that you wire into the car so it auto programmes the car to disable stop start upon start up.

has anyone else fitted one of these to a mk8 fiesta and if so could you tell me where to find the c320’ plug please, the instructions seem to be for a focus so I can’t find where it is.

thanks

Pretty sure @unofix has fitted this device, but it would be on a Focus. However, the good news is, that over time, stop/start will stop working all by itself 😂

Out at the moment but will get back to you when I'm home and using my laptop 👍

I know it isn't Fiesta but may be relevant.

In Sport and Track Mode on the Puma ST, the start/stop is automatically disabled, it doesn't come on again until Normal or Eco are selected.

May work on a Fiesta ST or StLx with Sport mode selected also?

The OP has a driving school car !

Even if it did disable Start/Stop in Sport Mode (very handy for your learner driver 🤣) it would keep resetting back to normal mode every time the ignition was turned off which is quite frequent for driving schools.

As it happens the OP has now installed a Start/Stop inhibitor and all is well with the world 👍

It does**,  but Sport mode (on my car at least) makes the accelerator very sensitive - probably not good for a driving school car imo.

(Though one of my local driving instructors does lessons using an Abarth 695 so what do I know!😀)

**still defaults to Normal every start though, as Unofix mentions, so you still have to press one button or another every time you start up.

I’m on my 7th driving school fiesta.Love them but boy can they be annoying.

This three way mode keeps defaulting to normal so no way can I teach in eco as it will switch of on test if they stall same with stop start which doesn’t turn the engine on until the clutch is raised so the pupil is effectively freewheeling until the engine starts. No way can a pupil manage these functions and adjust them on test also no way can a pupil drive the car in sport its too edgy.

Might go down the road of this auto stop start mentioned on here.

Other points…I’m getting 15% better economy in my hybrid 125 but the mirrors are still the smallest on any UK car:-)

I have them in stock 👍

On my Golf i simply disconnected from the main car battery which resolved this.

Did you find a way to get the car to start in eco mode and also with stop start disabled

Yes, but why anyone would want to disable stop/start and then select 'eco' mode is something I don't understand.

The OP on this thread was giving driving instruction with an MHEV so a very specific circumstance there.

Not really sure if Mikes car is an MHEV or not as 2020 was a changeover year and all we know so far is "Fiesta". Wondered if you were still supplying the devices.

Yes, although I don't have many left. I'll need to order more if they are still available.
