Ford Focus Mk3 battery drain problem solved

Featured Replies

I spent from August last year to January this, with a constant battery drain. Even after leaving overnight, I had to use a jump pack to get it started. For dealership said it was the battery - but it happened again. They had it again and said that there was nothing wrong with it - but there was.

I then wondered if the keyless entry system was constantly searching for a signal to show that someone was nearby with the keys. I disabled the automatic Keyless entry - and not a problem since.

I still unplug the dash cam and switch the radio off - but I did that before.  I cannot understand why Ford didn't know of this, or if they did, suggest disabling the system. Out of paranoia now, each day when I get in the car, I check the voltage with a cigarette lighter plugged battery checker. It has never been less than 11.9 volts.  Hope this helps someone out there with the same problem.  Paul
