Passenger door no power

Featured Replies

Hi and thanks for reading. My daughter has got herself a 2005 focus MK2 4 door. The front passenger door can only be locked unlocked from the lever above the door handle on that door. When you try and lock the rest of the car it trys to lock the other doors but they unlock straightaway. The car thinks the passenger door is always open on the dash and the power window doesn't work. At the moment she has to lock 3 doors from inside the car and then lock drivers down with the key. It's like the front passenger door has no power at all.

Many thanks for reading hopefully someone can help.

Does the speaker work?  And the electric mirror?

I'd suspect a faulty door wiring loom at this point.  First test would be making sure it's plugged in and that the door fuse hasn't blown.

Thanks for the reply. To be honest I am not sure about mirror or speaker. I will check them out. I think I have seen to check the door plug I need to take the door off which I am happy to do if it helps.

Thanks

....and there is the fault !!

The microswitch inside the door latch on the passenger door is broken. It's quite a common failure, the switch can't really be repaired or replaced as it is deep inside the latch mechanism.

You can get a second hand replacement latch from a scrap yard, or on eBay for around £20. You will need a latch with the same part number as yours (I think there are 6 different versions on your model). The latch Finis code is likely to be one of the first three parts on the list due to age.

Takes around an hour to strip the door card off and replace the latch. No programming is required, just plug and play as the saying goes.

Thanks for the information cheers

I found two broken wires in side the door and fixed them and now the window work but still no luck with the locking. Next to the window motor there's a box with door control on it. Could that be at fault? I could not see anything wrong with the latch assembly but going to get one of eBay.

Cheers

Does anyone have any information on how to check the front passenger door wiring on 2006 ford focus 5 door like which wires should be getting a 12 v + feed on the door lock plug. The wire's seem to come from the door control unit next to window motor.

Any help will be very appreciated.

Many thanks
