Clunking from front axle

Featured Replies

I have a very strange issue that maybe someone else might have experienced with my 2013 Focus (Titanium 182)

There's 2 main symptoms:

1) When turning hard left, and to a much lesser extent turning hard right, there is a loud clunking type sound.

2) After an hour or so on the motorway, a heavy knocking sound/sensation appears. It goes away when I take my foot off the accelerator, and comes back when I accelerate again. It gets very loud, and you can feel it very strongly through the car.
If I stop and wait a few minutes and then drive again it'll be fine for a while before starting again.

My car has had the following work done in the last 1-2 years:
replaced both front control arms inc. ball joints
replaced both front coil springs

The second symptom is new, but the first one existed before and after this maintenance.

Any ideas? 😅

The CV joint(s) is failing.
