MK4.5 Focus ST-Line X lead time

Featured Replies

Ordered MK4.5 Focus ST-Line X 155 Mhev Auto in Desert Island Blue in Mid July, girl in the dealership said it would be 3/4 months to get it, something about what she was telling me wasn't ringing true.  I found this forum and absolutely shocked with the length of time some of you all have been waiting.  is the lead times still 12+ months?  I've received an email from ford thanking me for placing my order, however trying to find something from Ford direct is impossible.  was hoping someone here has ordered recently and would know what the waiting time actually is.

thanks

It's back to normal lead times now afaik.

It was just in the aftermath of covid and the war in Ukraine, but seems to be ok now.

I was reading all those horror stories and was worrying i was gonna have a bit of a wait on my hands, also read about potential strike action in the German plant these cars are made in.

I ordered my ST end of March. It was built 5th May and picked it up 14th July.

There was a delay in transporting it over to Dagenham. It also sat at Dagenham for a week before being delivered to dealer.

Yes a full fat ST. Dealer told me the factory order times are back to normal 3 months or so. If you want one quicker than you could see what they have in stock.

It's already order bud, I just didn't think the dealer was telling me the Truth.  plus there isn't a single ST-Line Focus Estate 155 auto in desert island blue in any ford dealer in Ireland, so have to wait on a build.

Ah ok. I'm sure it will be here before you know it lol

Was it a brand new order or was it already on the system and has just been allocated to you?  When I ordered mine (back in Dec 2020) there was already a car in the correct spec on their list awaiting build.  Still took about 3 months to come through but was quicker than others that were making brand new orders.  That also including factory shutdowns for Covid and chip shortages.

I think the problem you'll have in Ireland is transport rather than build.  If they come through the UK you could be waiting a while for delivery after it's been built.

I ordered a mk8.5 Fiesta back in Dec 2021, took almost 12 months to arrive,  by then my financial situation had worsened and I couldn't get the credit so had to cancel and refuse delivery. It turned out OK on the end tho as 3 months later my situation improved and could order what I really wanted. A full fat Focus ST.

as we where talking about spec, she said there's one showing on the system, the 155 mhev auto st line x estate in the right colour, but once I placed the order she told me it would take 3 to 4 months, i ordered it because she told me there was one on the system and as i place the order she was able to "put my name on it" that was her words.  that was a Saturday afternoon, she called me on the Monday, told me the order went through, finance and everything and that the order was placed.  i asked was it the same lead time she told me end of NOvember, maybe early December, i wrongly assumed she could just have the car diverted to me lol

Ah yeah, that sounds like exactly the same situation as mine then.

I was given the same sort of crap at my local dealer.  I needed the car fairly quickly and said I'd rather have a pre-build, even it meant a change of colour or options, but they just kept telling me there weren't any prebuilt and I'd have to wait for the 155 engine.

(At the time, I thought the 155 engine was the only way to get independent rear suspension...but it turned out it was only the Vignale trim to get IRS with the 1.0 engines so I could have settled for the 125 MHEV instead in hindsight).

As I know you'll ask...I found the 155 perfectly capable from a performance perspective, but didn't like the MHEV characteristics (regen braking mainly) and it was a noisy lump, in a poorly sound-insulated Mk4 pre-facelift, so I found it a very unpleasant drive overall.  Mine was a manual so I can't comment on the gearbox.  Should also add I've very sensitive to noise and vibration etc, most people seem to be content with them.

Any review I've seen for the 155 mhev auto has all been positive enough, however how truthful are these guys going to be while being paid to do a review of a car.  The Mk4.5 155 auto estate has everything i'm looking for.  i'm changing back from driving an SUV for 5 years or so, i'll NEVER buy another SUV, horrible cars. kia sportage nasty cheaply made cheap materials.  I just hope the 155 mhev has enough go to keep me entertained for a year or two lol
