Ford Fiesta mk5 2008 Zetec Central locking issues

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I’m currently seeking some help/advice I have a 2008 mk5 fiesta and my central locking is acting up.
My keys batteries have gone (not the problem) therefore I’ve resulted in having to put the key in the door to lock and unlock it, when I unlock the car via the key in the door all the locks open however when I go to lock the doors, only the driver side door will lock leaving the other 3 open this means I have to then unlock the drivers door again to get back in before then pushing the lock latches in on all 3 doors for them to lock and then exiting the car and locking the drivers door via the key in the door again.
Can anyone help as this is incredibly frustrating plus when I come to sell this car I feel no one will want it as it “doesn’t lock”

Seems a lot of hassle to go through for the sake of replacing a £2 fob battery.

You mean the OP just has to put a new battery in the keyfob ?

Well I never !!  🤣

I’ve changed the batteries and reconnected the keys but even when pressing the key only the driver door opens

I’ve had new batteries and even on the key it only locks the drivers door and I have to get in to lock the others

Ok, so it's nothing to do with the fob batteries then lol.

It's either the door latch, the GEM or the wiring between them.

Have you got a warning light on in the instrument cluster showing a "door open" ?

You may find that it is set to only unlock the driver's door.

The Driver's door is on a different circuit to the other three, so there may be a fault in the GEM/wiring to those doors.
