Focus MK3 ST Engine Temperature

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have notice over some time that my engine appears to be very hot more than normal. I am sure I can feel the temperature in the car and also around the arches on both sides after normal driving.

Both the oil & coolant gauges are in their normal position and I have no warning lights. I haven’t noticed the fan coming on at all how can I test this?

thanks

You’ll feel the heat coming out of the arches from outside that’s normal. Or do you mean the arches feel hot from inside?

The engine does run quite hot and the turbo is at the back by the firewall. Do you keep your ac on? It’s normal to feel a bit of a difference around your feet in the summer if you’ve been pushing on but usually the ac can keep on top of it.

Radiator fan should come on with AC (if AC works).  Alternatively unplug the coolant temp sensor and that should bring the fan on as a failsafe.

Don't forget brakes create a lot of heat, there will be heat in the arches from those after a spirited drive.
