Mk8 doors lock behavior?

Featured Replies

Hi. This may sound stupid but could someone please check how the doors lock/unlock works for them from inside the car? After locking all doors from the inside with the lock button, the one with a led that turns orange, if you open the door normally (without pushing the unlock button first) from inside and get out of the car, are the rest of the doors and trunk still locked from the outside? Until you press the unlock button inside, or use your fob?

I'd swear before I locked the doors from the inside, and once I opened normally the driver door, all the other doors and the trunk were unlocked as well... am I crazy?

I've used Forscan to enable the doors autolock when reaching 20Km/h, and only know I've noticed what I've described. I've disabled it just for checking, and it's still the same.

Help, OCD intensifying! >_<

I don't understand the question LOL However, can you not just ask a mate/partner/neighbour to open the doors whilst you sit inside to test?

Yeah, sorry, sometimes I think I'm more proficient at English than I really am.

Imagine this:

- Get in your car and lock the doors.

- Open the driver door without pushing the unlock button, just as you normally do.

- Get out of the car and check the rest of the doors and trunk. Still locked? Or did them all unlock when you opened the driver door from the inside?

I'm almost totally sure all the doors+trunk unlocked as soon as I opened the driver door from the inside, even if I had manually locked them. Not anymore since I enabled the autolock thingie with Forscan...😖

Single door unlocking is a safety feature that many cars have had as an option for years.

Have a look through the dash menu for locks (probably in driver convenience) as I'm sure it'll be a tick box in there.

Yeah, the options I have now on the IPC regarding locks are:

-Autolock (added with Forscan).

-Auto unlock (the one doesn't seem to be working now, even if I tick this one and untick autolock).

-Unlock only passenger door (referred to unlock from the outside with your fob). (*)

And some others like ignore ajar door, disable double switches and some others I don't remember, but are irrelevant for my problem anyway 😫).

Edit (*): Yes, I've tried disabling this one too just in case it applied when opening from the inside, but nope).

If I lock all doors by the internal lock button and then exit one door, all other doors etc remain locked.

Aaaaaah, thank you! So I wasn't (totally) crazy! 🤪

OK, thanks again! Mine is a humble 2018 Trend+, but I guess door locking settings will be the same.

So I've been checking it all again today and it turns out everything works as expected...

- Auto unlock (all doors) works when you manually lock the doors from the inside and the car has reached 20Km/h at least. Then, when you shut the engine off, opening your door will unlock all doors. As long as you don't tick the AUTOLOCK option that I added with Forscan!

-Autolock selected: doors lock when you reach 20Km/h, but when  you shut the engine off and open your door, all the others stay locked. Even if you have "Auto unlock' selected too. You must push the "unlock" button for all the doors to...well, unlock.

So maybe the Autolock thing is buggy and that's why they removed it from the IPC? Faster and cheaper than fixing it, I guess. 😅

Well, this has been my odyssey with my car doors, thank you all for your help! 😀
