I'm back in Focus after about 8 years

Well I'm back in one of my favourite ever cars. Bought a 65 plate 1.5 ecoboost Zetec S with nearly 126k miles on it. Yes high miles and a dodgy history lol But the motor is oh so sweet. Got it cheap too £5.3k.

It had 4 odd tyres with lots of tread on each But that's naff to me so I've got 4 new Goodyear tyres. Seems Halfords couldn't track the car so after an investigation which I asked for they found it needs two suspension strut mounts (top ones). Also the steering position sensor is knackered.

That sensor is fooling other sensors into thinking something else is wrong like hill assist and tyre pressure monitoring.

The seller is going to sort those issues.

But ruddy hell Sync 2 sat nav. How the hell can it lose position on the M62 going to Leeds from Rochdale? My last car was an 07 plate Lexus is250 with nav. That nav wipes the floor with this so called modern one. So much for technology eh? lol

It's been decades since I've hadca car with cloth seats but these are really quite ruddy good. Black with red stitching. Oh black car to. Where will I find the paint code?

The temperature stays put in the middle of the gauge which is a good thing.

I'm surprised just how good the sound system is. My last focus was a titanium x with the Sony system. This zetec hasn't Sony but its impressive. I've still got the Alpine sub I had fitted in that focus and gonna get it fitted to this one.

You know what? It's great being back in a Focus. They're really a Ruddy Good car. It's good to be back.

For those who may not know my other Fords have been Mondeo's. A Titanium X 2.0 diesel which I had decat and remapped to 170bhp (140 at the wheels). I've had the 3 derivatives of the superb Titanium X Sport. Ecoboost. The 2.0 diesel manual gearbox and the 2.2 diesel powershift.

Should have gone to Specsavers sooner 🤣

Welcome back to the Focus forum and don't forget to update your profile with your new car 👍

And update the sync2 nav card. Probably the original 2014 data.

welcome back

I would Unofix if I could remember how lol.

I didn't know about an updated nav card Ian. But I can't see how a nav card can dictate a GPS signal. I'd appreciate info on how it can.

Thanks Dez. In my mondeo days I found Talkford a much better forum for mondeos but this one better for the Focus. Weird or what.

Not sure what you mean- did the satnav lose the little triangle? Surprised if it did that.

Or did it say you were in the middle of a field? In which case a new card would help cos it will then know where the road is.

The nav didn't lose the triangle. Its as though  I was on a road parallel with the motorway. But I recall that part of the motorway DAB signal is utter rubbish basically none existent. But saying that my previous cars nav didn't lose signal or not know where I was even on that same stretch of road.

However I'll look at the nsv card to see what version it is. I'm assuming it goes in the card slot under the centre arm rest.

Well I thought I'd update my experience with my 1.5 ecoboost Zetec S focus.

Yes I got it cheap and have spent nearly £2k on it but it's been worth it. The car drives better than I remember which is really good. The economy I'm really impressed with. So far having covered 800 ish miles I'm averaging 41mpg. A mix of motorway and 'normal' roads. Got some very good quality floor mats with red stitching on the edges. Had coolant changed and the brake fluid changed but unfortunately there's a leak in the aircon system but I'm not overly bothered but I will get it sorted.

Weird how it runs more happily at 70mph than 60mph. One thing I'm unhappy with is wind noise when the front window is fully down. Don't remember that with my previous 2 mk3 focuses. Other than that I've got a guddun. Don't half look good too.

Lol, my previous 2018 Mk 8 Fiesta (Sync 3) often did that too on various roads. Showed me as driving out towards the North Sea in the middle of the Humber estuary on one occasion, when I was actually near Skipton.😀
