Focus 2020 Keyless not starting car

Featured Replies

Hi all.

Had my Focus 2020 1.5 diesel Titanium about 5 weeks now.

3 nights ago had a warning come up on the touchscreen saying key not detected. Thought it may just be the battery in key fob was low as it was all working and running fine at the time.

Came to use it yesterday and the doors and mirrors opened up fine. The dials light up and ignition comment comes up on touchscreen as usual. The little green light comes on on the Start/Stop button when the clutch is pressed down.

And then nothing.

Have now changed the batteries in both keyless key fobs and it is acting exactly the same.

Has anyone ever had the same issue and how do I fix it.

Thanks Simon.

Hi.

Yeah tried that and exactly the same.

Nothing happens when I press the Start/Stop button.

Have tried 2 more batteries in the fobs today and still nothing.

Have put the car battery on charge tonight to see if its too low to Start the car.

Ok full charge of the car battery overnight has done nothing. Still the same problem.

Could it be an immobiliser problem.?

Does the ignition come on if you press the button without the clutch pressed?

No nothing happens. No clicking or anything.

Dials all light up as usual then go out after about 20 secs.

Touchscreen doesn't turn on which i thought would have been battery related.

Did you charge the battery insitu or take it out?

If you did it while still connected to the car, try disconnecting the battery for a few mins, let everything power down and reset, before reconnecting it.

You might need to get a code reader on it and see if anything is reporting a fault or lack of communication.

I cahrged it while in the car.

Do i remove both the positive and negative terminals Or just the one or does it not matter.

Thanks guys that worked. 😅

Just taking negative off the battery for 5 mins and all sorted.

Everything working correctly.

Any ideas why that has happened? Seems strange.

Computer brain "flatulence"? It shouldn't have happened, but you've effectively just "Turned it off and on again".

Keep an eye on it, if it happens again it might be indicative of a fault. But just as likely it will be fine now.

Lol. The good old I.T. response.

I should have gone straight there as its all mainly computerised now.

Thank you for the help. I'll definitely be keeping an eye on the battery levels from now on.

Ford must have subcontracted the software to Micro$oft 🤣
