Modded 1L fiesta red edition noisy tappets?

Featured Replies

My car setup consists of an exhaust and remap, along with open air cone plus upgraded front mounted intercooler.

Upon engine startup, the idle sits just above 1000rpm. After a minute or so, it drops to 1000rpm and this is where a noisy tapping or knocking sound starts. However; this tapping sound in idle seems to no longer be an issue once the car has been driven.

If any fiesta owners or mechanics have faced a similar problem with their engine then please offer your advice or opinions.

Thanks.

Could be low oil pressure.

Is the oil level correct ?

Is it the correct exact Ford specification oil ?

Awfully loud. 🤣. Actually didn't seem loud once you put the cap back on.  Have you had the car long and has the noise just started?

And forgot to say the noise when you have removed the cap is quite normal on the 1.0 ecoboost.

They pop like that from brand new with the cap off.  Not entirely sure what causes it.  Have read it's the fuel pump tappet but not sure whether that's true or not.

I have 5L of magnetic 5W20 oil, and I’ve never had a problem with the dipstick!

I’ve had the car for nearly 2 years. But I’m pretty sure this issue has only come around since I had the intercooler fitted in May.
