Is it possible to disable voice control?

Featured Replies

I have a 128GB USB drive with all my music on it which I almost exclusively have playing in random mode. About two minutes after I switch on my 61 plate Fiesta Zetec, the SYNC voice tells me that due to the number of files on the device, some voice commands are not available. Okay, I get it! I don't need telling every time I start my car! I don't really use any voice controls so wondered if it was somehow possible to disable it or at least turn off unnecessary messages.

I have systematically been through everything in the menu hierarchy and can't find anything.

I'm guessing that the silence means no - or at best, don't know.

Possibly a selection within the brain, can you use FORScan on your vehicle. We have lives and are not here 24/7, patientce young padawan

I was going to suggest asking it to be quiet... :whistling:

I do that with her on the sat-nav only a bit less politer -- shut the ---- up

I didn't want to come across as impatient. I'd actually forgotten that I had asked (I know it was only two days ago) and because I don't get notifications and just remembered, stopped by to have a look.

Forscan is not an option just yet. I'm a 39 year Mac veteran and not having much of a clue about Windows machines, got bogged down very quickly when looking for a small laptop for the purpose so have been looking into buying an 11" MacBook Air to make dual boot - that way, I might get some other use out of it.

Anyway, just after posting, I found an old thread on another forum (Mustang users, I think) which made me suspect that it might need more than a snorkel dive in the menus.

I don't think you were being impatient.  It's perfectly acceptable to bump a thread after a couple of days with no response.

I'm afraid this is one area I don't have much experience, so can't offer a sensible suggestion.

It's annoying but only happens once per switch of the ignition so not a big problem on longer journeys. I just thought it might be a known 'feature' which everybody knew the trick to disable like the seatbelt warning.

I've no idea if this would work, but you could try to partition the 128Gb USB pen in to two 64Gb sections. Then you would still be able to have the same number of tracks but the car would see it as two USB drives. 🤔

That's a thought but I suspect that it would only see the first partition.
