Lock issue mk6

Featured Replies

Mk6 1.3 fiesta

By turning the key the electronic lock doesnt work. It only works by pushing the buttons on the key.

Tried many things, but nothing seems to solve the problem.

How could this fixed?

Are you saying, when putting the key into the lock on the door, you cannot twist it? If so, you need to oil the actual lock, I would use something like 3 in 1 oil spray. Because people rarely use the actual lock, they often seize up with lack of use.

The electonic system is not activated. It only locks the drivers door.

The electronic system is only activated using the buttons (lock, unlock) not by turning the key.

So, using the key, it locks/unlocks the driver door but does not activate the central locking?

Yes.

Oiled the locks outside, but didnt work.

The key is supposed to lock and unlock all locks/doors.

Probably a faulty wire in the drivers door.  Not worth the hassle of finding when the buttons still work fine.

If thats the issue then that wire should propably be next to the lock. Because the other parts and the rod which is connected to the knob seem alright.

It's not quite that simple.  The drivers door module is connected to the GEM separately to the other door modules.  This gives it the ability to tell the GEM when the door has been manually unlocked using the key barrel, as well as the ability for the GEM to trigger the unlock function in the opposite direction, as it does with all other doors.  The damage could be anywhere between the door module and the GEM.  Or it could be the door module itself.

Understood, thank you.
