New cars peppered with pointless high brightness LEDs!

Featured Replies

Most new cars now have multiple high brightness LEDs peppered across their fronts, and sometimes these are arranged into bright light bars around the headlamps etc. They seemingly cannot be switched off and the light they produce isn't dispersed like a normal bulb, it is harsh white light having a sort of directional laser like quality. I dislike these intensely and always smile when I notice that I am being blinded by this stuff from the car behind, only to notice that the driver is wearing sunglasses and cannot appreciate the irony of their situation.

How did we manage with 60W halogen bulbs - it must have been eating all those carrots.

Not only are we dazzled by cars when they are moving, we are also dazzled by the way headlights stay on after the driver has got out of the car and walked away, when they park offside to, and when the automatic levelling bounces with a bump.  And as for automatic lights that go on and off down a tree lined road because of insufficient hysteresis.......
