2007 mk5 slam panel replacement

Featured Replies

Hi,

I’ve got a 2007 mk5 zetec s

I've been looking to replace my slam panel as it is cracked and the bonnet struggles to close, I was looking to do it myself if possible but I’ve seen a lot of mixed thoughts on this. Some have told me it’ll take a couple of hours and is easy. Others have said I would need to take it to a garage to take the air on gas out safely and will take a few hours and a few hundred pounds. Etc. I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on this for me? How long would it take doing it myself or in a garage? Do I need to empty and disconnect the aircon.

(sorry if I sound like an idiot, I don’t know where else to look 😞 )

thanks

You don't need to disconnect the AC pipes as long as you can keep the condenser roughly in the right place without straining the pipes.  (Put a box under it or use bungee cord for example).

It will take a couple of hours at home on a driveway.
