Hi my daughter temp gauge only sits at about 70 Deg on a good run. It will warm up if just left running from 30 mins. I think it must be the thermostat and I think it's the one near the alternator. Does that sound right ?

    Sounds like your daughter needs to just walk, not run. She should only be 37oC 🤣🤣

    There are two stat options for the 1.6.  Either 74c or 82c.  So it may not be faulty.

    If you do want to change it, check whether there are 2 or 3 pipes coming from the stat housing.  The stats are different again for the 3 pipe housing.

    Not as far as I can tell.  Both temps are listed for the same models and years on the parts catalogue.

    It's possible one could be a different climate but it doesn't say.  Most UK cars use an 82c stat so that's the one I'd choose myself.

    My MK2.5 1.6 Petrol runs at around 82c once warmed up when checked on the hidden menu which gives a more accurate temp reading.
