Hi all, I have a Ford focus 1.0 ecoboost I just wanted some advice on a concern I have. I’m fully aware the these engines suffer with wet belt issues. When I go to start the car in the morning the oil light does not go out immediately but it takes a few seconds to go out. Is this normal? Or is it a sign that bad things are coming.

What mileage has the engine done ?

Remember you can get the wet belts replaced and the oil sump pick-up cleaned or replaced at anytime, you don't have till wait to the maximum limits !!

It’s a 2015 plate and has done 66000 mls

That would suggest that it has done quite a number of short journeys, with the engine often not getting fully hot.

I'd recommend you think about getting the wet belts changed and sump cleaned now, rather than risk an engine failure.

Although my Ecoboom is older (2012) the mileage is not too different to the time it originally failed, due to a serious oil pump strainer blockage (wet belt debris).
