Rear Parking Sensor Coming Off - Focus MK4

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I hope I'm not posting something that has been already asked - I've tried to look in the forum but didn't really find what I'm looking for. I have a Ford Focus 2019 with rear parking sensors and I've noticed that one of them (second one from the right) is only held in place by half of it. I've tried to take some pictures to explain it a bit better (looking at the photos, the left part of the sensor goes in).

If I'm understand it right, what is actually coming off is not even the parking sensor but the clip that supports the sensor. As I've been quoted around 200€ to fix it, I was considering taking a look at it myself but I got a couple of questions:

- How do I access the sensor? Is there any manual/video that I could refer to? Do I need to completely take down the bumper?

- Will buying the support for the sensor be enough to fix it or there could be some other damage that I'm not considering?

Thank you so much in advance!

Hi Moss. It looks to me as if it's been pushed in. Try to get behind it and push it out if you can. 200 euro is a proper rip off merchant.

Hey Vlad, thanks for the suggestion! Any idea on how to get behind it? 😅

I totally agree on the rip off - that's why I wanted to have a look at it myself!

Try just reaching up behind the bumper.  If they're too high to reach then it'll be a bumper off job.

I'll have a look but I believe there is a piece of hard plastic attached to the bumper as protection for the underneath of the car. Thanks for all the suggestions though!

Is there a guide I can follow to remove the rear bumper?

If there's any plastic under there, it'll just be for aerodynamics rather than protection.  Should only be screwed or clipped on and easily removed.

There isn't a Mk4 bumper removal guide on here but you may find one on YouTube.
