Engine noise diagnosisD

Featured Replies

Dear Community,

I am turning to you to ask if you can help me to understand what may be the cause of these engine noises of my Ford Focus 1.6 Petrol MK2.

The noises appeared recently and do not affect the car's performance/acceleration/consumption, however I got the advice from friends not to drive it anymore.

I wonder it you have any tips what might need to get replaced. I would take it to a mechanic next week but would not want to get ripped off and I thought if it is easy I could maybe fix it myself.

I attached a link of a video of the engine noise. It is noisy both when accelerating/ idling. --> Engine noise

Please help if you know something:)

Kind Regards,

Daniel

When was the last oil change done?

Have you checked the oil level?

Hello ,

Thanks for giving this post some attention.

It was done around 8000 km ago according to the service history.

It sounds like a crank or a pulley.

Did you check the belts?

You need to try removing the auxiliary belts, I've seen bad air con compressors on these cause a horrific noise but it could be anything, you've got to rule everything out on the auxiliary belt drive before condemning the engine
