Mk4.5 Focus - 1.0L Ecoboost 125PS vs 1.0L 155PS mHEV

Featured Replies

Anyone got any feedback/opinions on these engines or the difference between them?

I've got two possible options (one with each engine) at my local dealer and I don't know enough about them to make a decision.

I'm currently driving a 1.0L 125PS mHEV - not sure if the new 125 not being hybrid makes a noticeable difference?

Ford don't help much - looking back through old price lists they quote the same power, torque and performance figures for both 125 variants though the MHEV has very slightly lower mpg and CO2 figures.

I see the 155 also has better mpg and lower CO2 than the current 125.

Not driven either in a Focus, but from driving a Puma with 125 and 155 (both MHEV) I'd go for the latter, personally.

Neither, get an RS, for the same sort of money, but it will retain most of its value when you want to move it on and it’ll be a damn sight more fun too. 😆

Having gone from a MK8 Fiesta with a 125 Mhev to a Focus Mk4.5 with a non mhev 1.0 I can tell you that the Focus is slower.

The 155 mhev in the Focus is on par with the 125 mhev in the Fiesta.

A Bluefin remap on the non Mhev would see a nice power increase.
