MK8 Fiesta rattle on acceleration - can't find fault

Featured Replies

hello, I'm a new owner and recently picked up car - it started this incredibly annoying rattle sounding like coming behind the dash when accelerating and very noticeable between 2-3000rpm - took to dealer and they couldn't hear anything - drove away and started rattling again

I think the rattle is coming from the engine - I have uploaded some videos and would really appreciate anyone could suggest what it is?

There were quite a few threads on similar issues when the Mk 8 came out. Example here, might give some clues?

The first video is chain rattle - that's the downside of a cam chain over a wet-belt unfortunately.

Was it cold when you took that video?  It should quieten down a bit when warmed up.

With 2020 being the changeover year to chain on the Fiesta. I'd be interested to know if it's MHEV (or "Ecoboost hybrid" as they originally labelled it) or yet another of the anomalies we keep discovering.
