Duratec 2.0 Fuel regulator location

Featured Replies

I have a 2.0l duratec and there is no fuel pressure regulator on the fuel rail. Does anyone know where the regulator is on this engine?

Not fitted on this engine.

I assume that this is a petrol engine.

So how is the fuel pressure controlled then?

The injector flow rate varies according to the fuel pressure.

It is a petrol engine, but these are pretty basic and never made it into a tight emissions bracket.  Ford seemed to experiment with how many parts they could manage without.  A lot of these don't have a cam sensor, for example.  No MAF either.

The rail is a 'dead end' with no regulator or return line.

As far as I understand, there is some sort of pressure regulation within the fuel pump/sender unit in the tank.  But bizarrely, most of these don't even have a fuel pressure sensor (located in the centre of the rail when fitted), so there's no way for the PCM to know whether the fuel pressure is there or not.

Any idea what the pressure should be?
