Thermostat housing

Featured Replies

Hi, I have focus 2005 1.6 ti  petrol with the HXDA 115 bhp engine and I want to change the thermostat housing. The one on there has 3 ports but only 2 have pipes on. I have got a new one that looks the same and meant to fit but I was expecting the third unused port to be blocked off in some way but it's not. Not sure if there is something I remove from the old one to block off this unused port. I have not taken old one off yet to see but hopefully someone can help me.

Many thanks

Can I fit a two port one ? I just can see the need for the 3 port with no pipe on it and water will ***** out .

Cheers

If you've got a plug for the electric stat then you need the 3 port housing.

I think there's a rubber cap over the unused port that can be moved to the new one but you'd have to check.

The ford shop says that the 3 port fits my car and the 2 port one fits as well and both have electric stats. If there is a rubber plug it must be inside because there nothing to see from the outside.

Cheers

Hmm, not sure then, they may have revised the part.

The cap I'm thinking of was external with a spring clamp around it.

If you can compare the shape of the block flange and they both look the same then I can't see any reason not to use a 2 port if that also has an electric stat.
