Fiesta 2017 Front Ford Badge Removal

Featured Replies

Had somebody reverse into us. Apart from a few minor scratches the worst damage is that a chunk of blue plastic has been taken out of the badge.

Question is I believe it is secured by two pins with securing washes on to the front bumper assembly. Is it also stuck down with adhesive? Not wanting to remove the bumper is it feasible to drill out the pins from above through the badge? Where the blue plastic has broken off it seems to show the position of the right-hand pin.

Replacement badge would be OK secured using adhesive I presume.

Any other suggestions/tips welcomed 👍

That is indeed the way that they were fitted in the 1970's.

The Ford oval is only stuck on with a black double sided sticky foam pad. An easy way to remove them is to use a strong nylon fishing line (garden strimmer line also works) and slip it under the badge and using a sawing motion cut through the sticky pad.

Thanks for that. That should be easier than taking a drill to it.

I've done alot of de-badgiung over the years, Unofix instructions are perfect, though the only thing I do in addition is run a hair dryer over the badge initially to heat adhesive making it easier to come off. Any residue will come off easily with Isopropyl alcohol. (Acetone free nail polish remover will do as a substitute).

There are 3 plastic pins on the back of the front badge.

Fishing line will still work but you'll have to do it from all 4 sides, can't just cut through in one go.

Well I never !!!

I've lost count of the number of Ford ovals I've removed or fitted since the 1980's I've not come across ones with plastic pins. Often though it would be easier to get the badge back in the correct place if there was some sort of location pin.

Is this only on this model Fiesta ?

It's probably all of the badges that are sunk into the bumper on later models.  Started with the Mk3.5 Focus I think.  Mk8 Fiesta, Mk4 Focus and new Puma all use the same design.

Ah that's why I thought it had securing pins as S/H badges I have seen online had those pins on the rear.

After you have worked thro the adhesive do I assume that they snap off or just come away with the badge as you pull it away from the car?

They should come away with the badge as you pull it.  If you've got an old credit card to slip under the edge, that can help lift the badge without damaging the paintwork.
