Firewire

Featured Replies

I've been given a 3GB Lacie D2 Quadra Hdd to look at, I consider myself fairly tech savvy bur it has an 800 Firewire port which neither my laptop or skeleton rig has. I understand the 800 FW is a waaaay faster way of data transfer. Can anyone recommend a way of connecting to either lappy or main rig. This is new and unknown tech to me. It has other ports but would like to be able to utilise all of them for a proper diagnosis and fix

Cheers for any insights provided.

The only way I know is to get a firewire PCI or PCI-Express card for a PC

Issue kind of resolved. Pulled the drive and ran it thru a battery of tests came back 100%. Ditched the firewire enclosure and mounted into USB 3, cost a fiver for the case but no messing with multiple cables and adapters.

USB 3 is far faster than FireWire 800 anyway.

FireWire is really old tech now.
