MK4 Focus 1.5 TDCI Rattle/Tick

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Sorry if this is something that has been posted a million times before!

I recently got a 2019 MK4 Focus 1.5 diesel ST-Line with 75,000KM on the clock after my beloved Ibiza FR finally kicked the bucket. For the most part the car has been fantastic, love the driving position, the ride and the cabin is just a nice space to be in. When I got the car it just been serviced with a new fuel filter, oil filter and oil change and I just had it pass its NCT.

However, I've started noticing a rattle/ticking noise from deep down in the engine bay. I've had two mechanics suggest it's the heat shield but even after the 'fix' it's still going and I've noticed it getting louder over the past few days.

Video linked is from this morning when I noticed it getting particularly loud.

Any help would be greatly appreciated and thanks a million!

Luke.

Mine used to rattle like mad too, and the aux belt used to make a weird whirring noise
