Wireless 12v Battery Monitoring

Featured Replies

Anyone on here have a wireless 12v battery monitor fitted to their car?  I've seen them mentioned once or twice but didn't want to take those threads off-topic.

Most of you know I'm not driving currently and haven't been able to for many months.  The original plan was to attempt driving again when the ambient temp drops in Autumn.  Not sure that's realistic now but if so, it'll only be literally yards at a time to start with, which will obviously be about the worst scenario for a 12v battery on an ICE car.  Can't be helped though, so I've just got to try and find a way to manage the consequences of that.

I do have a battery charger but nowhere to plug it in near the car so it's a major hassle taking a large powerbank out to the car to run it.  Don't want to do that any more often than absolutely necessary.  Don't want to have to keep lifting the bonnet and checking the voltage with a multimeter either.

Ideally I want something that can 'alert' my phone when the battery voltage drops, and perhaps send a reading once a week or so while the car isn't being used.  I never switch on Bluetooth so would prefer WiFi ideally.  Also don't want a monitor that's going to take a lot of battery charge as that would be counter-productive.  And don't want some cheap tat that's not accurate as that would be pointless.

Any recommendations?

(PS - It's for a Golf not a Focus, but they should be pretty similar in terms of battery requirements)

I don't have any product recommendations, but it might have to be bluetooth.

Wifi is a lot less power efficient, anything designed to provide wireless readings off a battery is going to be using Bluetooth as it uses so much less power.
