Ford 1ltr duratec timing belt

Featured Replies

Hi All

New here and just bought a 10 yr old Fiesta.  I knew I'd have to have the timing belt changed and the garage advised me that, as it's not an ecoboost engine, it doesn't have a wet belt and so the cost would be reasonable.  However my local and trusted garage have said that the reg shows it as a wet belt and it will cost £1,200.  The local Ford dealer have also quoted £1,200 but havent said if it's a wet belt or not.  Does anyone know if the 1 ltr Duratec has a wet belt timing belt?

Yes, it has a wetbelt, same setup as the turbo version.

Thanks for the reply Tom. That's annoying.  They told us it wasn't a wet belt but I don't have anything in writing, so I don't think I'll have much joy in rejecting the car.

Considering they've left you substantially out of pocket by in effect falsely representing the car, still worth a try I would think.

Plenty of guides online about Consumer Rights when purchasing a car, just one example:

May also be worth a word with your local Trading Standards - the dealer may already be known to them if they make a habit of this sort of thing.

Didn't think they had non turbo 3cly engines that early? just ecoboosts and the old 1.25 4 pot

Introduced quite early in the life of the facelift Mk 7.5, the 3 cyl ran in parallel with the old 1.25 for a short time.

I have a brochure dated April 2013 showing both.
