Drivers Headlights stopped working.

Featured Replies

Hello, first post I have a 2013 Focus Titanium 6 speed automatic with 230K miles on it. It was great till 220K miles, when I had a new clutch put in. So last night I turned the lights on and got a warning that the low beam was out, but in fact both the low and high were out only on the drivers side only. I replaced the bulbs this morning and they came on but were really dim. I turn the high beams on and nothing, switched back to low beams and nothing. I look carefully at the old bulbs and they looked good still. I should also mention that I have had my car at Ford to figure out a starting issue. The car starts up in the morning, but when it is hot out, it will slow crank or just stop cranking but won't start. Alternator and battery are fine, and they are replacing the starter on Wednesday. Not sure if this issue is connected to that issue or not. So what would cause the lights to go out only on the drivers side (both bulbs)? Thanks!

To absolutely rule out the bulb being at fault, have you swapped it with the passenger bulb to see if it too stops working? Or even put the 'faulty' one in the passenger side to see if it magically works again?

Thanks for the quick reply. I did not switch the bulbs from side to side. I just bought new ones this morning assuming they were blown and both high and low beam were non functioning even after replacing the bulbs. I could test the old bulbs on the other side, but since the new bulbs didn't work, I don;t know what information I would gain on that?

The low (dipped) beam are controlled directly from the BCM, (no fuses). I suspect you will find that you have water ingress in to the connectors of the body control module.
