Side mirror frame replacement

Featured Replies

My side mirror randomly got damaged. I've got a replacement frame but no idea how to take the broken one off. Any ideas?

Thanks, I've watched that video already but it doesn't help as I'm only replacing the black frame not the whole unit

I'm confused, the black section is all one part. It is not meant to come apart. See the Ford parts list below:

Ah ok.  As Unofix says, the frame isn't really designed to be replaced separately.  (I know you can buy aftermarket copy frames on eBay)

First thing you'll need to do is remove the glass.  Push the bottom corner right in so you can see the fixing on the back to unclip.  Once the glass is out, pull the indicator bulb & wiring forward.  Then remove the mirror adjustment motor (Torx screws).  After that, the frame should be free and you can push the motor and indicator bulb through it.  Then push them through the new frame.  Fit that onto the mount.  Refit the adjustment motor.  Refit the indicator.  Refit the glass.  Refit the coloured cap.
