Abs module

Featured Replies

Hi I have mk7 fiesta 2008 tdci. Can’t get pressure in brakes. Can the module affect bleeding. And if so is it plug & play with another used one. I’m guessing having this reprogrammed isn’t a guarantee. My brake pedal is unresponsive. And I have brand new clean fluid at every nipple.

ABS modules are not Plug 'n' Play.

They are programmed to your vehicle and most include the vehicles VIN and are also part of the PAT's anti-theft system. Only authorised Ford main dealers and two independent repair companies in the UK can change or programme the ABS units.

Using a laptop you can use FORScan and put the ABS unit in to maintenance mode to allow the brake system to be bled if you have air trapped in the system.

Agree. It needs to be in bleed mode to bleed so that it operates all the valves whilst bleeding.

Forscan can do this

That’s only partially correct, as I found out after the ABS module on my wife’s MK7 1.4 had been rebuilt and came to bleed the whole brake system.

ABS bleeding is only supported in Forscan on cars (for MK7’s at least) with ESP, unfortunately my wife’s car doesn’t have ESP so it caused a whole load of aggravation to eventually get the whole system fully bled.
