What Brand Tyres Were Fitted from New?

Featured Replies

I am trying to find what brand tyres Ford fitted originally to my car when new of the production line?

I am not the original owner and there is a mix of tyres on the car. I need to replace the 2 rear ones and would like to go back to original.

How do I find this out, I have tried using the vin number but that doesn't offer any info.

Thanks

Don't think this would be recorded anywhere - like most manufacturers Ford use a variety of suppliers and only a few tyres are model specific, e.g. on STs.

Might get a clue as to likely original fitment if you tell us what you have on now, in what size, and what specific model of Fiesta you have (Zetec, Titanium, ST-Line, etc).

car is 2018 1.0L Ecoboost Titanium, tyres currently fitted are Michelin Energy Saver 195/55 R16 87W which are no longer available.

sorry, back left one is an unknown brand and the back right is another Michelin but different to front

Just checked a couple of very low mileage Fiestas with your year and trim level on Autotrader.

Both have Michelin Primacy 3 tyres.

As Roger says, Ford fit whatever they can get in bulk at the cheapest price at the time so there's no way to find out for definite.

Sounds likely the originals could have been Michelin then, particularly in view of Tom's findings that Primacy 3 seems to be a current fitment from new.

I've had Primacy on previous cars and been quite happy with them - very good mileage. No doubt other members will be along with their favourite recommendations, though.

I would get rid of the unknown brand and replace it with a matching MIchelin to the one already on the back if you can. If all your tyres need replacing then replace them all with a decent brand, i.e. Michelin, Goodyear, Pirelli etc. TBH i think you are wasting your time trying to find what tyres were originally fitted. How many miles has the car done? BTW my 2021 Titanium X is fitted with Michelin Primacy 3

My 2018 ST-Line X Fiesta had Michelin Pilot Sport 4 all round when I bought the car. (205/45 17s) The car had done under 9k miles so I think were originals. They lasted quite a while which was good.

Yes, I had those on my previous ST-L X also and they were very good. Also have them on the current ST (which used to come on Pilot Supersports - another bit of cost cutting) so I'll see how they fare.

Don't think they do them in the OPs size though and a bit OTT anyway - Primacy should be fine.

My 125 Ecoboost had Goodyear Eagle from new on 17" wheels. The ride and handling were atrocious. It now sits on 16" wheels shod with Yokohamas which are wearing well, riding well and gripping well.

My 2018 Titanium had Michelin Primacy 3 from the factory.

I replaced them with the same from Costco as that was my cheapest route.

My 2021 TitaniumX has Michelin Primacy 4 from factory.
