MK4 Service manual / info

Featured Replies

I just picked up a 2020 Focus Estate. It has the 1.0 EcoBoost (125 hp), 6-speed manual, and Sync 3.

Where can I find a service manual for this car?

I'm also curious if this car has a timing chain or wet belt since I read some conflicting info. If it's a chain I believe it uses a belt to drive the oil pump (correct?). Is that belt a service item?

I've asked on another topic but I'll ask here again. I've got Forscan up and running with a Vlinker FS. I couldn't see the APIM module (trying to activate climate controls on the Sync screen) and went through the procedure a few times (battery disconnected for 10 min, remove profile from Forscan, try again) but haven't gotten it loaded. Any tips there?

Thanks in advance

All MK4 Focus are the new chain driven engines. Oil pump is wet belt still, yes

Oil & oil filter - 2 years or 18k

Spark plugs and air filter - 4 years or 36k

Oil pump belt & auxiliary belts (non-MHEV) - 10 years or 144k

Thanks! Does anyone know if a service manual is available for the MK4?

What do you mean by service manual?

Haynes sell a repair manual for around £25.  But I doubt there's anything in there you couldn't find online.

If you mean a book for service stamps, any Ford one will do as the mileage intervals aren't printed in them.  Can be had on eBay for under £10.

I mean like a workshop/repair manual. For my Skoda it was fairly easy to aquire the office Skoda service manual but I haven't found the Ford manuals so easily.

Does this include the 1 litre eco boost fitted to early Mark 4’s or was there a point that they changed to chain driven engines?

All Mk4 Focus with an Ecoboost engine has a timing chain and a wet oil pump belt.

(Except the 2.3 EcoBoost in the ST - that uses a chain for the oil pump as well. )

Haynes do an online thing for £26 and repairbooks.co.uk do a tranche of PDFs for £9.99.  I wanted to find out why my car had a feeble horn and the Haynes thing didn't mention it but the latter did at least show me where to look!

Now that’s an engine, there’s a track day experience in a new shape ST at thruxton looks very tempting.

Thanks, Chris

That was exactly what I was looking for. It looks like they printed/copied directly from the Ford dealer's repair program.

I use this If I want serv info and to see if the eng has a belt or chain for example
