Loose Door seals MK4 Focus

Featured Replies

Hi Has anyone else had trouble with door seals on their mark 4 focus? My drivers door seal is falling off much like the previous focus seals used to fall off of the rear doors, I’ve tried many different adhesives but it keeps falling back down and getting trapped in the door “mildly irritating” I’ve just put some T-Rex tape on this evening after cleaning off old residue with some Meths, I’m not convinced it will last I’d be interested to know if anyone else has had this issue and what fixed it.

Has anyone not had trouble with door seals on the Mk4 ?

Use Evo-stick impact adhesive. Clean the area with IPA or acetone first.

I've had similar problems also used as a stop gap T Rex tape approx 6 weeks ago, okay at present yet the Impact adhesive looks better option if it remains stuck over time. Noted recent you tube research using a silicone spray on the seals re-juvenates them although I have not yet tried & tested.

I have some silicone spray I might give that a go, thanks for the advice and 6 weeks sounds promising my previous repair has lasted a few days so I’ll hold out hope for the T-Rex until I get around to a more permanent repair.

😂 I think Ford need to work on their seals seen loads of Mark 3 Focuses/Foci with their seals hanging out, I’ll definitely give the evostick a go at some point. I’ve got a feeling that the hot weather this week will probably defeat the double sided tape.

You are supposed to wipe the paint with alcohol before applying, which I bet they don't do (TVM)

And you should never cut primary seals, they should be sealed/one piece (but that costs more money too).

Most fall off after 3yrs, so Ford don't care
