2011 Ford Focus mk2.5 seatbelt warning alarm

Featured Replies

Hi all,

New to this forum, I recently bought a second hand mk2.5, once I hit 15 mph seatbelt warning comes on even with all seatbelts done, I've had it to garage but no error messages, Does anyone have any idea on how to silence or disable the alarm.

Many thanks

(non-mechanical)

Mick

There are two plugs on the seat belt buckles, one for the belt pre-tensioner, and one for the belt disconnected warning.

I suspect that either the plug, wiring or the buckle itself is faulty.  You can check the plugs under the seat easily enough, though I would hope the garage have already done that.  I think it's a purple plug for this function.  The orange plug is for the pretensioner.

Assuming you don't have anything heavy sat on the passenger seat, I'd take an educated guess on it being the drivers side that's at fault.

Thanks Tom,

I've checked the plug under the seat and all terminals look good and are connected correctly, I fear it's an issue with the seatbelt catch, do you know if there is anyway to disable the alarm, I can deal with the light being on but the alarm is driving me mad.

The alarm can't be disabled I'm afraid.  The catch can be easily replaced with a used part if you're able to remove the seat yourself.  If not, a garage shouldn't charge too much to do it.
