Sync 3 Update......but no maps

I have a 2018 Fiesta - never updated Sync before but I just managed to do that by putting my VIN in the Ford website, downloading the latest SYNC 3 version to usb and installing in the car.  All seemed successful and then I uploaded the required text file back on the Ford site..

I assumed I could now get access to the latest Maps update but now when I enter the VIN site just says "WE APOLOGIZE FOR THE ERROR.  WE ARE WORKING TO CORRECT IT AND REQUEST YOU TRY AGAIN LATER.". This is about the 20th time I've tried later and still the same message.

I tried emailing FORD UK but they say they can't help because they can't assess the vehicle and I should go to a local dealer. Seems odd to me, will a dealer be able to help by assessing the vehicle - I can't see anything wrong with the vehicle - it's the Ford website giving me problems

Cyanlabs is the way to go if you want updates. The maps there are much more recent and if your car had never been updated it will bring it up to sync 3.4 rather than the 3.0 the Ford site will limit you to.

So, looks like cyanlabs is "unofficial" but should work OK for what I want, have you used it yourself?

If I use this to update does it do the SYNC 3 and the maps update in one go or are they two separate steps?

It will do the both, together.

But, be warned, plan a very long journey as it takes 50 minutes.

It's genuine Ford software, just not through the genuine route.

Follow their instructions to the letter

It will install fine without driving anywhere. Just use a battery charger and monitor it. The ignition cuts out every ten minutes or so but as long as you press your ignition switch soon after you wont even need to have the engine running.
