Would these Recaro seats fit in my Fiesta?

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

I'm really new to all this car stuff but I'm trying to learn more about modifications as I've bought my first Ford Fiesta and I love it.

I need a new driver seat as the slide mechanism on it is broken, so I thought why not get some Recaro seats... potentially.

I have a Ford Fiesta 2014 Ecoboost 1.0 3 door, would the half-grey ST Recaro seats fit in my Fiesta or not? It says MK7, which I think my car is? (correct me if I'm wrong) But my car doesn't have heated seats - I keep seeing that advertised for these seats though. And the seats say ST on them, which my Fiesta is not. Does it matter?

Seats such as these: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/325245678206

Thanks for any help. I don't know if this is a stupid question or not. But, gotta start from somewhere!

Yes they should fit, of course the heated seat won't work without all the extra wiring and controls. Just remember if you start to modify your car in anyway that you need to inform your insurance company.

If they have not already been changed, are you aware that the wet cambelt and oil pump belts are due for change now ?

Yeah that's ok if the heating doesn't work, as long as they fit. Thanks a lot! Do these types of things make a change (price-wise) on the insurance at all or is it just to let them know?

Also, no I wasn't aware. Is that due to its age? I'd like to keep my car running in top condition for as long as possible so any help is appreciated. Hence why I'm trying to learn it all now. If those should be done I can look into it, I don't think its been done yet. Do you have any idea on how much that costs usually?

Cheers!

A little bit of bad news:

It sometimes does make a difference to the price. Improving or adding value to the car, and/or making it look like a better model (for example an ST) is something that you need to tell your insurance company.

Now the really bad news:

Your 2014 Ecoboost 1.0 has what is known as a 'wet cambelt' which requires replacing at a maximum age of 10 years or 150,000 miles which ever occurs first. It is a major operation and requires a full strip down of the engine and takes around 8 to 10 hours if everything goes according to plan. Very few independent garages are willing to do the work, and even fewer of them seem to be able to complete the work without problems. This kind of means you have to look at getting it done by a Ford main dealer. The cost is between £1200 and £1800 depending on the garage and also exactly what parts are replaced or checked.

Vehicles with lower than average mileage and approaching 10 years of age seem to suffer worse with premature cambelt failure. It is important to realise with these engines that the cambelt normally fails without any warning and once that happens the engine is scrap and not cost effective to even try and repair.

Ahhh thanks for telling me all this! Hopefully it wont add too much to the insurance with just the seats (fingers crossed).

I did do some digging since you told me about the cambelt and I did get a quote from somewhere for £1140 for cambelt change, oil pump belt change, drive belt change and water filter replaced (by a ford dealership). Would this be considered a good price in todays market?

Thanks a lot for all your help I didn't even know about all this until you told me. 😱

If that is a price from a Ford dealer at £1140 then it is by far the best quote we have seen. Although you may find an independent garage somewhere a little cheaper, personally I'd stay with a Ford garage.

Hi.

If you have any issues with insurance at all for a change of seats then please feel free to drop me a line.

Regards,

Dan.

Great! Thanks a lot for all your help! I'll probably stick with a Ford garage for a job like this.
